Enjoy one, two or three days learning drawing techniques with one to one support. This course is for those with some previous experience. We will experiment with composition and use of monochrome, colour and mixed media to build an individual sustained drawing over the three days. You may also choose one or more of these to work on a one day or two day project as appropriate. The title of the drawing will be “The Dream”. This could be a personal dream, a dream/ambition, a historical dream (as in Martin Luther King) or any other interpretation of the title. Drawings can include text and mixed media. Students should bring in six items to work from i.e. photos, newspaper cuttings, relevant objects, poems, items of clothing, etc.

Tutor – Sheila Broun
Subjects: Drawing Techniques
I have been making art since I was seven – when I made my first sculpture of The Fates.
My father was a Music and Classics teacher, and bedtime stories told from Greek myths had a lifelong influence on my creative work.
Between 1979 and 2000 I worked at Wakefield College, teaching Drawing and Textiles; and Leeds Metropolitan University, writing and delivering contextual studies programmes on Symbolism, Human Perception & Colour, Art & Language, and Nature & Culture.
Since 2001 I have been working for Bristol Adult Learning teaching Textiles, and now, Drawing Techniques. It is a great pleasure to see people gain confidence, develop their drawing skills, and have a laugh.
