What is Romanticism? A term difficult to define, although in painting it is often associated with an emphasis on colour and feeling. We will explore its meaning in the context of artists across Europe from Friedrich in Germany to Géricault in France and Turner
in Britain. This course includes the opportunity to join a trip to a London art gallery on Wednesday 29 November.

Tutor – Sarah Kelly
Subjects: Art History
I’m a lecturer on Western European art and have worked in museums in the UK and abroad.
I spent eight years in France and Belgium, working at Les Abattoirs in Toulouse and at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Magritte Museum in Brussels.
Since returning to the UK in 2009, I have enjoyed combining museum work with lecturing and teaching art history.
I also work with visually impaired people in art galleries.
I like to share my enthusiasm for paintings, drawings and sculpture and want art to be enjoyed by and accessible to everyone.
