Our Film Studies Classes are aimed at all abilities and are informative in a fun and friendly atmosphere. We look at film clips as well as studying directors and actors and the context of how and when the film was made.
Courses 2023/24
For our new 2023/24 courses, see list below:
NEW First Love
If last love is really the one we should all be aiming for, first love, often tinged with nostalgia for younger, more innocent times, is the one that exerts the real pull on our cinematic imaginations. It’s a near-universal situation, from the blush and awkwardness and “no one’s ever felt this way ever!” of first infatuation, through the sometimes painful process of discovering if there’s any hope of reciprocation, and, more often than not, to the relationship’s end. Films by Francois Truffaut, Mia Hansen-Love, Pawel Pawlikowski, Nick Cassavetes, Wes Anderson. This course is delivered online via ZOOM.
Mondays 4pm to 5.30pm Davide Ariasso
5 sessions from 15 April £105/£63 F32E Online
NEW Refugee Films
From the moment they are forced to leave their countries, to the long and dangerous journeys they endure, to the barriers they face upon arrival, the refugee experience is often marked by desperation and struggle. Yet in the face of unimaginable circumstances, these stories also express overcoming, resilience, and hope. Films include For Sama, Flee, Human Flow, Limbo, Midnight Traveller. This course is delivered online via ZOOM.
