About Our Stained Glass Courses
Courses on Offer
Beginners
On our beginners stained-glass course, you will be guided through all the stages involved in making a simple small leaded or copperfoil panel. You will be able to design your own panel with the help of the tutor before moving on to choosing your colours and cutting the glass. Once all of your glass is cut to shape you will begin to construct your panel before soldering it all together.
Intermediate/Advanced
Our advanced stained-glass courses are made for students who have prior experience. With the support of the tutor you will be able to make a window with one-to-one tuition. You will learn new techniques and be able to be as creative as you want. Techniques include kiln-fired glass, painting, staining, enamelling, fusing and slumping, copper foil and stained-glass mosaic.
Summer School
During this intense weeklong Summer School you will be able to work on a stained-glass panel of your choice. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers and each learner will have the support required to create a beautiful piece of stained-glass.
Saturday Courses
Our Saturday classes are an easy and fun introduction to stained-glass. You will learn all of the stages involved in making a simple copper foil piece.
Tutor Profile
Ruth Adams
Ruth has extensive experience in working as a Stained Glass artist and teaching Stained Glass. Ruth trained in London and achieved a Postgraduate qualification in advanced studies in Stained Glass from the Central London School of Art and Design.
After completing her training she then taught for ten years at the City Literary Institute (now known as City Lit) in the Central London. Eventually choosing to relocate out of the capital, Ruth continues to work as an artist and teaches Stained Glass at several locations in the South West.
Ruth has taught Stained Glass for Bristol Adult Learning at Stoke Lodge for many years and is a highly skilled and experienced tutor.
An experienced, supportive and encouraging tutor, Ruth works with learners to allow them to fully develop their ideas and projects into beautiful creative pieces.
