Subjects: Italian and Film Studies
I’ve been in the UK for over twenty years, but I’m originally from Piedmont, a region in Northern Italy famous for wine, FIAT cars, Nutella and… The Turin Shroud!
I completed my MA in Italian Literature and Film Studies in the beautiful city of Turin (Torino), and in my early adulthood I produced a few shorts, wrote for music and film
magaz
ines, worked as a copywriter, performed as a singer and songwriter and explored spirituality and Buddhism.
I moved to the UK in 2005 mainly because of my passion for indie-music, but especially for my love of the English language and culture.
Here in the UK I have always lived in the vibrant city of Bristol. I started teaching Italian (and later Film Studies) in 2008, and worked for a number of local educational organisations, universities and schools.
I try to bring some playfulness and a sense of humour to my lessons, but I also strive to help my students talk and listen as much as they can, and understand how language works while stimulating their curiosity about Italian culture.
In my Film Studies classes I offer a space to discuss and reflect on films and their context, based on the conviction that everyone experiences films in an personal way.
To me life in the classroom is a lot about human connection and I see myself as a facilitator of that more than anything else.
